A fresh day with no mistakes in it!

As a young girl I loved to read Anne of Green Gables - what a character! She was impulsive, romantic, honest, open, free, imaginative. She was also always getting herself into a whole heap of trouble! She was a bit of a trouble magnet, mainly due to her hot headedness and her quick fire temper - who can forget her breaking her slate over Gilbert's head for calling her 'carrots'?

One of the things said in the book that has always stayed with me is this "tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it".

Think about it.

Isn't that wonderful?

No matter what has already happened in our lives, each new day gives us the opportunity to start again, to look ahead with positivity. What can this new day hold for us we wonder as we sip the first cup of tea of the day? Anything we like.

Sometimes if the week starts bad, or the month, or the year, there is a tendency to keep dragging that old stuff, negativity, bad experiences, anger, hurt, resentment, feelings of failure into every day, carrying them with us.

STOP.

Spend time each night shaking off any negative feelings. TELL yourself that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it and BELIEVE IT. Have a bath, wash away your negativity. Sweat it out at the gym. Sit outside in your garden or back yard (or local park!) and let the breeze blow it away.

When the morning comes, greet it like a friend and see the possibilities that are there for you.

This doesn't mean that nothing will go wrong today. Because it could! It is more about a shift in attitude. EXPECT good things to come your way and for things to go right for you. And you know they just might!

ATTITUDE CHANGES EVERYTHING.

Give it away!!

One of the most memorable things I have learned on my journey of self development is about our ability to give it away. By that I mean often to break a cycle of lack or longing we need to learn to give away in order to start receiving.

Once, when i was feeling financially poor, I read an idea that really intrigued me. It was to take out the phone book, pick a person and address at random and to post that person, anonymously, a £10 note. I instantly LOVED this idea and although I could have used that tenner I went through with the idea. I then sat back and imagined how wonderful, surprised and special the receiver would feel, how they would tell their friends, laugh about it, spend it on something needed or something frivolous. Maybe they would even be inspired to do something similar themselves, to give it away in some way.

A week after I did this I got a promotion at work and my money worries eased. Were the two connected? Who knows! I like to think so!

When we have a poverty/ lack mentality, we cling to what we do have, focus on the lack and in doing so miss opportunities for growth, change and success. By giving it away and trusting that the universe will reciprocate in some way we become stronger, bigger and more in the world than we were before. Whatever happens its a win win situation.

In the spirit of giving it away, i am going to give away 2 places on my next women only telephone workshop (all the details are in the previous post). If you want to be in the running for this wonderful gift (because the session is going to give you something wonderful, I promise you!) then email me at sarah@stepping-stonescoaching.co.uk by 5pm on Monday 26th March and I'll pick two people at random. There are several other women already booked on and ready to take part and it would be great to have you join us.

And who knows, if you're lucky, maybe you can think of something that you can give away...and then watch what happens!

have a great day!

start a love affair - with yourself!

hello all!

On Thursday 29th March I will be running a telephone workshop just for women which will put you in touch with the most powerful, most resourceful part of yourself.

This part of you is already there of course, just waiting to be discovered and this teleclass will bring it out into the open and give you new direction, insight into your present life and renewed focus for your next steps forward. With this new knowledge and wisdom you will propel yourself towards a more compelling, more successful future. This could be the start of the greatest relationship of your life - the one with this special part of yourself - so what are you waiting for?

I've used the exercise that I'm basing this on a lot recently both in 1-2-1 sessions and in my new DISCOVER ME coaching product and it's had a really positive effect on the lives of those who have worked through it. Someone has quite smoking, someone else has made a brave career move and others have been left motivated to make changes and inspired by who they are capable of being!

I'm hoping that those taking part will enjoy the safe environment of being on the call with me and the other women in the group and feel able to share, inspire and be inspired by everyone else involved - let's go for it girls!

Due to the content of the workshop and my desire to give everyone involved as good an experience as possible, I am restricting attendance to just 10 people and four people have booked a place already. The cost of the class is just £7.95 and will last for one hour. The call you make will be to a UK based telephone conferncing centre and you will be charged just 1p per minute. Many other such calls can cost as much as 10p per minute so this is great value.

Simply email me at sarah@stepping-stonescoaching.co.uk to secure your place or to ask for more information. I hope to hear from you!

Discover You! Part One

If you had the opportunity to discover something truly amazing about yourself, a discovery which would make your life easier, more meaningful, wouldn't you take it?

Here at Stepping Stones Coaching I am busy launching my latest product - DISCOVER ME. This is a stand alone one to one coaching workshop where you get to discover more about the most important person in your life - you! What better way to start the year?

Just imagine, two whole hours to think about what makes you tick, what you might need to start changing your life and how to start breaking through that mindset which is currently stopping you from living a truly fulfilling, successful life. Didn't get what you wanted for Christmas? We'll now you can redress the balance!

I decided to create this product because I know not everyone has the time or financial means to commit to a series of sessions with a coach. Money in particular can be a deciding factor, especially at this time of year and to me, that's just not fair, everyone should have access to coaching - but until it becomes available on the NHS (well, you never know!) DISCOVER ME could just be the next best thing.

using a variety of tools and techniques, DISCOVER ME is your chance to give yourself (or someone else) the gift of self discovery. Longer lasting than the effects of a massage and better for you than chocolate.

Curious? You can email me at sarah@stepping-stonescoaching.co.uk for more details or to book yourself in. All sessions booked in January are available at the very affordable price of £29.95. From 1 February they will cost £59.95 so to make a saving of £30 get in touch soon. This is a limited offer available to just 15 people and when they're gone - they're gone!

take time for tranquility

Tranquillity

I’m feeling quite happy today as a report for the Campaign for Rural England (CRE) has announced that the North East of England where I live is the most tranquil region in the country, as it houses the top three counties for tranquillity; Northumberland, Cumbria and North Yorkshire. All three counties have large rural areas and also, in my opinion, have the most stunning landscape in the country – miles and miles of open countryside, golden beaches, fells, moors, mountains, forests and woodlands. And with that comes less noise, less air pollution and more peace, quiet and fresh air. All of which are essential to create an environment of tranquillity. Those in London and the South East are less fortunate, with Surrey being the least tranquil county, along with Hertfordshire.

According to the report, tranquillity is defined as “the quality of calm experienced in places with mainly natural features and activities, free from disturbances and manmade ones”

Tranquillity is good for our health. Exposure to nature has been shown to reduce blood pressure, reduce heart attacks, increase mental performance and soothe anxiety. It helps relieve stress and recent research shows that one of the primary reasons that people visit the countryside is to escape from the stresses of their lives and seek tranquillity and solitude in the great outdoors.

In my office at work, I have a wall space which I refer to as the wall of tranquillity, which houses half a dozen or so images of attractive, tranquil scenery. No houses, cars, people, roads or buildings, just water, rocks, sand, trees, mountains and sky. I look at this pictures from time to time to give my eyes a rest from the movement, colour and bustle around me (my ears are not so lucky!).

What this research has reminded me of is how much I value tranquillity and how important it is to make the effort to go to spaces where it can be found. Some are lucky enough to live and work in a tranquil environment but huge numbers of us live in urban and built up areas and if we don’t make time for it, the nearest thing we get to tranquillity is a walk in the park.

In my experience, I have some of my best ideas or most profound thoughts when I am out in the great outdoor. Of course urban life and culture can be incredibly stimulating, but equally you can get overloaded with sights and sounds and have little room for your thoughts and feelings.

So I’ve decided that this weekend, come rain or shine, I’ll be out in the countryside, enjoying the peace and solitude. For as Bill Connelly says; there’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.
